Trevor Hill: MD of Audi South Africa
WITH 27 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH THE VW GROUP HERE AND OVERSEAS– A MULTI-TALENTED SOUTH AFRICAN, TREVOR HILL (55), TOOK OVER THE POSITION AS HEAD OF AUDI IN SOUTH AFRICA IN JUNE 2017. ROGER MCCLEERY SAT DOWN WITH THE NEW TOP MAN AT AUDI.
After five years as Dealer Training and Development Manager in Johannesburg, attending to the needs of the independent dealers, Hill went overseas in 1997 to the Audi Headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany.
There, Hill set up a training division in marketing and sales as Audi started its move into the premium brand sector of the market. Twenty years later, Audi is the number one premium brand in Western Europe above its German rivals. It is also the third premium brand in the American market where it has seen six years of growth.
Trevor Hill then went international – first to Japan for a couple of years before relocating to Beijing in China where he oversaw sales rising from 80,000 cars to 128,000 cars. Now, 600,000 Audis are sold each year in China.
His moving continued. First to a new market in South Korea as MD of both Audi and Volkswagen for six years, then it was on to Dubai as MD in charge of the entire Middle East market using his expertise in training, development, and sales and marketing.
Before moving back to South Africa this year, Hill relocated from Dubai to the Audi head office in Ingolstadt, to be involved in the brand’s strategic “International Planning” project, which took a holistic view of the market and product opportunities going forward.
