With the all-new Kona Elec­tric, Hyundai presents the world’s first full-elec­tric sub­com­pact SUV. Of­fer­ing two bat­tery pack op­tions, the long-range ver­sion, with a 64 kWh bat­tery pack, boasts a range of 470 kilo­me­tres, and ac­cel­er­ates from 0-100 km/h in 7.6 sec­onds. The stan­dard ver­sion, with a bat­tery ca­pac­ity of 39 kWh, of­fers a range of 300 kilo­me­tres, and ac­cel­er­ates from 0-100 km/h in 9.3 sec­onds. Both ver­sions de­liver 395 Nm of in­stant torque and a top speed of 167 km/h. Charg­ing the lithium-ion poly­mer bat­tery up to 80% takes about 54 min­utes us­ing a 100 kW di­rect cur­rent (DC) fast charger. Charg­ing can also be done from a 240 volt plug or the 7.2 kW on-board­charger us­ing al­ter­nat­ing cur­rent (AC). The lat­ter takes 9 hours 40 min­utes for the long-range bat­tery pack and 6 hours 10 min­utes for the stan­dard bat­tery pack.The Kona Elec­tric is set to go on sale in Europe in De­cem­ber 2018.
