If you’re try­ing to lose weight, caf­feine is not your friend. US sci­en­tists from Cor­nell Univer­sity be­lieve caf­feine may trig­ger the temp­ta­tion for sweet treats. Their study found caf­feine’s abil­ity to boost alert­ness low­ered peo­ple’s idea of sweet­ness, which made them want these flavours even more. Re­searchers also found the same de­gree of alert­ness in peo­ple whether they drank caf­feinated or de­caf drinks, which im­plies be­liev­ing you’re do­ing some­thing is as im­por­tant as ac­tu­ally do­ing it.
