Khom­bindlela High de­liv­ers the goods

EX­CITE­MENT ruled at Khom­bindlela High School in Ng­welezana on Fri­day af­ter the re­lease of the 2017 ma­tric re­sults.

The school ob­tained an 87% pass rate and learn­ers earned 74 dis­tinc­tions.

The school’s two top achiev­ers, Sphi­wokuhle Biyela (20) and Sin­qo­bile Msi­mango (18), both scored seven dis­tinc­tions, fol­lowed by Njab­ulo Khany­ile (18) with four.

The three learn­ers said hard work, ded­i­ca­tion and fam­ily sup­port helped them reach their goals.

Biyela, from Ng­welezana town­ship, told the ZO he is en­rolling at Univer­sity of Cape Town (UCT) to study to­wards a Bach­e­lor of Com­merce de­gree.

Msi­mango, also from Ng­welezana is also go­ing to UCT to study medicine.

‘A lot of sac­ri­fices paid off. I was glued to my books day and night and at­tended study groups be­cause I knew it was my first and last ma­tric ex­ams . I wanted to do well so that I can progress to the next level,’ she said.

A me­dia shy Khany­ile from eSigisi said he is go­ing to Wits Univer­sity to study elec­tri­cal engi­neer­ing.

‘I would like to thank my fam­ily and teach­ers for the sup­port they gave me to achieve my dream.

‘I also want to ask those who failed to not give up. They must try again,’ he said.
