Khombindlela High delivers the goods
EXCITEMENT ruled at Khombindlela High School in Ngwelezana on Friday after the release of the 2017 matric results.
The school obtained an 87% pass rate and learners earned 74 distinctions.
The school’s two top achievers, Sphiwokuhle Biyela (20) and Sinqobile Msimango (18), both scored seven distinctions, followed by Njabulo Khanyile (18) with four.
The three learners said hard work, dedication and family support helped them reach their goals.
Biyela, from Ngwelezana township, told the ZO he is enrolling at University of Cape Town (UCT) to study towards a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Msimango, also from Ngwelezana is also going to UCT to study medicine.
‘A lot of sacrifices paid off. I was glued to my books day and night and attended study groups because I knew it was my first and last matric exams . I wanted to do well so that I can progress to the next level,’ she said.
A media shy Khanyile from eSigisi said he is going to Wits University to study electrical engineering.
‘I would like to thank my family and teachers for the support they gave me to achieve my dream.
‘I also want to ask those who failed to not give up. They must try again,’ he said.
