SAPS snag sex offenders
THE SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Units in KZN arrested 353 suspects for sexual related cases during December.
KZN Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa, said members managed to secure a number of convictions for crimes directed against women and children, and saw eight accused handed life sentences, with other sex offenders being sentenced to more than 270 years behind bars.
‘These accused were convicted for various crimes such as rape, murder, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, child pornography and child abandonment.
‘We will continue with our operations to make sure that those involved in such crimes are brought to book and face the might of the law,’ Langa said.
