Take on the Tronox Marathon

COM­RADES Marathon run­ners still hop­ing to qual­ify for the big event will def­i­nitely en­ter the pop­u­lar an­nual Tronox Marathon and Half Marathon, hosted by the uMh­lathuze Ath­let­ics Club at Ad­di­son Park on Sun­day, 29 April.

This year will see ath­letes com­plet­ing a new route that con­sists of a fast and easy qual­i­fier through the sub­urbs of Em­pan­geni.

Qual­i­fied run­ners will use this as a train­ing run to test their prepa­ra­tions ahead of the gru­elling run await­ing later this year.

Ath­letes can sign up for the 42.2km run at a cost of R200 per run­ner and will start their run at 5.30am on race day.

The 21.1km run/walk will start just af­ter the 42.2km run and will cost R130 per run­ner.

There is also a 10km route for ath­letes who need to build con­fi­dence or work on their speed be­fore tack­ling their first half marathon or just look­ing for a so­cial run.

This dis­tance will cost R80 per com­peti­tor and starts at 7am.

There is a nice 5km fun run also on the day for fam­i­lies and youth who want to be part of the event.

This race will start at 7am and costs just R20 per ath­lete. One can regis­ter on the day or on­line on the club’s web­site.
