Speculative prices released for Ford’s Ranger Raptor
UNLIKE the SA spec model that will be built at Ford’s Silverton Plant outside Pretoria, the Aussie spec Raptor will be sourced from Thailand and command a sticker price of $74 990 (R691 232), making it $13 200 (R121 673) more expensive than the Wildtrak, and below the previous $85 000 (R783 500) estimation.
Despite also being more expensive than the top spec Volkswagen Amarok V6 TDI Down Under, speculation is that the Raptor will be cheaper than the MercedesBenz X350d, albeit with 157kW/500Nm as opposed to 190kW/550Nm.
The Raptor’s pricing in Australia could also result in local models being less expensive than the X-class, which tops out at R818 105 for the current X250d Power 4x4 AT flagship.
With the Amarok 3.0 TDI Extreme commanding a sticker price of R791 300 and with a 190kW variant slated to arrive next year, expect the Raptor to be priced at between R800 000 and R850 000, although at this point, the estimation is
