Small brand, big numbers

Suzuki is busy kicking butt in the local motor trade as it logs one sales record after the other every month.

For what’s essentially a newcomer to the local car scene, and a relatively small brand, this steady rise in popularity speaks volumes about Suzuki’s ability to keep their clients happy by giving them what they want.

The brand’s latest reason to boast is the fact that it sold 10 000 vehicles in the last financial, year ending in March.

This comes right after Suzuki logged its best ever month in the SA market, having sold

1 179 units in February. What is selling? Interestingly Suzuki’s monthly sales statistics show a healthy spread across its product line.

Last month the Ignis led the way with 290 units registered, while the outgoing Swift hatchback added 279.

The evergreen Jimny managed 115 units, while the Baleno (90), Celerio (78), Vitara (69), Ertiga (53) and Ciaz (32) all contributed to the cause.

The aging Grand Vitara is the only vehicle which didn’t fare well, with only five units finding new homes.

Suzuki is also steadily increasing its dealer footprint in SA, with 52 showrooms spread across the country.

Speaking to Autodealer, Suzuki Zululand Sales Manager, Roland Witthoft, said they are elated by the growth of the brand.

‘Suzuki’s steady rise can be attributed to many aspects, such as the cars’ build quality, reliability and the fact that they are well priced.

‘We also ensure our customers get the service they deserve,’ said Witthoft.

He added that Suzuki Zululand, which shares premises with East Pre-owned in Bullion Boulevard, is in the process of expanding its operations and Zululanders can soon look forward to even better service and a larger variety of new and used cars.
