AFRIFOCUS SECURITIES

Financial Mail - Investors Monthly - - Cover Story -

THIS FIRM IS AN OLD SCHOOL-STYLE brokerage with high levels of personalised service. It is oriented towards the traditional investor who is older than 35 and regularly contributes to a portfolio. The firm is an approved broker for the new ZarX exchange, and offers training on foreign- exchange trading.

Apart from having a solid advice-based offering, the firm also offers full wealth management with a personal wealth division. This division offers a comprehensive range of full discretionary, managed portfolios that cater for cash, income, balanced and equity-only investors. Balanced and equity-only portfolios follow a model approach, while the income portfolio is constructed on a personalised basis.

Afrifocus provides extensive research and a quarter of its clients indicate that they use this to make investment decisions. All investors are invited to biannual presentations, and also receive access to in-house and partnered investment research. There is a lot of face-to-face interaction with clients — 76% have met a representative from the firm in person.
