INVESTEC DID NOT PROVIDE US with any information on its services, limiting our ability to assess the broker. Nevertheless, from our past research it is clear that it offers an excellent service, particularly focused on high-net worth clients.

The brokerage offering is well integrated with the rest of the bank, so it can seamlessly use client portfolios as security against lending and provide an integrated service for banking clients. It is particularly good with complex clients requiring structuring, hedging and other financial engineering. The bulk of clients (58%) describe themselves as traditional investors who contribute regularly to a portfolio, while the firm is also attracting a fair number of young savers (30%).

Investec clients were effusive in their feedback. Over 80% use the bank’s website to place their trades and most make their own buying and selling decisions. Most say the service is excellent, though some complain about the costs.
