De Lille again has them Shaik-ing in their shoes
WHAT HAPPENED| THE ID LEADER Patricia de Lille caused a sensation again last week when, after returning to the country from a visit abroad, she said that Chippy Shaik, the SA Defence Force’s former head of armaments purchasing, had demanded about R21m from a German armaments company before he would authorise the purchase of corvettes for the navy. De Lille also gave the press a German report about this.
WHAT THE OTHERS SAID THE DAILY BEELD said in its comments about De Lille’s latest allegations that she liked causing a stir and then sitting back to see what happened. “That’s her way – but in the past she has usually not been far wide of the mark.” The paper says that at least her allegations should be properly investigated, because we must remember that she held talks with well-informed German and British investigation units.
