It’s just not cricket
WHAT HAPPENED| SA ELECTRICITY SUPPLIER Eskom has admitted for the first time that the country’s power supply problems aren’t just a minor issue. Last Wednesday evening’s disruptive power failure during a cricket match between SA and Pakistan in Durban once again revealed the extent of the crisis, though Eskom blames the Ethekweni council. Eskom has requested that the country’s consumers do everything possible to save electricity.
WHAT THE OTHERS SAID IN A POWERFUL comment about the public admission of guilt, Beeld said it was time for a turning point in the country’s impending electricity crisis. So far, the debate has been dominated by accusations that Eskom is being poorly managed and that Government must also share the blame, because it wrecked Eskom’s expansion plans due to a lack of direction, the paper said.
