WHAT HAPPENED| ALMOST EVERY NEWSPAPER in SA provided wide coverage of and comment on the admission (again) of Health Minister Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang to hospital. In October last year, it was pneumonia, this time it’s anaemia and other problems, her doctor says. The Department of Health acted promptly this time in appointing an acting minister (Jeff Radebe).

WHAT OTHERS SAID CAPE TIMES says the crux of the matter is whether the minister is still in a fit state to carry out her duties. The department itself gave the answer this time: No. The Citizen says that the minister’s ill health doesn’t make her immune to questions about her ability to do her job, and Jeff Radebe, with his own taxi problems, is an unhealthy choice.
