Wot a lot(to) I got
WHAT HAPPENED THE PRETORIA HIGH COURT has set aside Minister of Trade & Industry Mandisi Mpahlwa’s decision to transfer the running of the national lottery to the Gidani consortium. This follows after Uthingo appealed against the granting of the operating licence to Gidani from 1 April, because the allocation process was riddled with faults. Mpahlwa was ordered to repeat the whole process in a fair and transparent manner. THE CITIZEN said the national lottery has become a shambles, but that the decision was fair, because high-ranking ANC leaders have financial interests in Gidani and Uthingo, which contravenes the provisions of the Lottery Act. It’s quite unacceptable, the paper said. Business Day said the decision wasn’t unexpected, because involvement by Government officials is highly irregular. What a mess, the paper said.
