THE ONE SHOW ABOUT 2 000 creatives from all over the world will gather in New York from 8 to 11 May for the One Show Festival, one of advertising’s most prestigious events. Apparently competing with the Cannes festival, the four-day event comprises exhibitions and awards. GOODBYE MTN MEDIA AGENCY OMD has resigned the MTN cellular network media buying account, one of the biggest in the country. No reasons have been given. MTN spends about R320m a year on advertising, according to Nielsen figures, and has been with OMD for 10 years. One depicts someone queuing to use a toilet. The payoff line runs: “Frustration. You wouldn’t put up with it anywhere else. Don’t put up with it from your bank.”
