LERUO MOLOTLEGI – THE MAN
THE THIRD OF SIX SIBLINGS, this very eligible bachelor was born in Phokeng in 1968, where he lives in a modest house that his people are happy to call a palace. That despite the fact that he controls an empire worth R25bn.
The 36th King of the Bafokeng, Molotlegi became monarch after the death of his two elder brothers in quick succession in 1999 and 2000.
He was educated at Hilton College in KwaZulu-Natal, and graduated at the University of Natal with a degree in architecture and urban planning.
The Kgosi is president of the Mineral Rights Association of Indigenous People of South Africa and one of the principal negotiators in SA’s new mining legislation.
A casual golfer, he’s a keen helicopter and fixed wing pilot and an honorary Colonel in the SA Air Force.
