Fleeced enough

Finweek English Edition - - Letters - RICHARD DUNCAN

I’M RESPONDING to the letter by Baron F (5 April), who responded to Rory G “Do the maths” (22 March), regarding a national retirement fund. Clearly, the writer doesn’t understand how South Africa’s proposed social security contributions will work.

Any scheme driven by Government will not be in the best interest of the man in the street. Any national fund proposed for any purpose is purely to gain control of vast sums of money. I think we’ve been fleeced enough. Show us an example of a well-run department other than Revenue, for obvious reasons, and then perhaps we need not be concerned.
