A PLOT LINE SUITABLE FOR THE SOPRANOS

Finweek English Edition - - Companies & markets -

WHAT ARE YOU to make of the bid (if there is one) for Gold Fields from Edward Pastorini (if he exists)? Should the Bloomberg news agency have published a report without checking? How could it sit on such an ostensibly hot story? And what, if anything, was the role of some unidentified Gold Fields executive in leaking documents?

Who knows the answers to any of those questions? I certainly don’t. And until the FSB, SEC, old uncle Tom Cobbleigh and all complete their investigations, I don’t expect to be much the wiser.

But it all makes for lovely media copy and I’m sorry The Sopranos is coming to an end.

However spotless Pastorini’s character may be (again, if he exists) his story would make a wonderful basis for a TV series.

Come to think of it, isn’t there another TV series built around a group of con men (and women)? Well, they can have the idea too – and for free.
