Good? Bad? Who knows?
THE WHEELS have started turning for the formation of a breakaway political party in SA after Mosiuoa Lekota announced his disillusionment with the ANC and then left the party. Former Gauteng premier Mbhazima Shilowa has said he will resign from the ANC and will use his power to arrange a national convention “in the interests of democracy” and work for voting and other reforms. THE CITIZEN said it supports Shilowa’s initiative to break the political logjam in SA. City Press said a breakaway party would be a good move. The Star said a split is now a reality after the ANC had for a long time failed to heed the warning signs. Volksblad said it was an important moment in the realignment of SA politics.
