WHAT HAP­PENED THE COM­ING elec­tion and the dis­rup­tion of meet­ings of the ANC’s break­away fac­tion by po­lit­i­cal thugs were con­stantly in the news. Pres­i­dent Kgalema Mot­lanthe’s re­quests to ANC mem­bers not to dis­rupt the break­away group’s meet­ings were in vain and youth leader Julius Malema stirred up more un­rest with his tribal rant­ings.

said the more South Africans ac­cept one an­other the fewer at­tacks there will be. said the ANC’s in­con­sis­tency is rea­son for great con­cern. said every­one should learn po­lit­i­cal tol­er­ance. asked whether the ANC doesn’t have enough lead­er­ship to pre­vent such danger­ous trends. warned it could lead to a dis­rupted elec­tion.
