New warnings about water

Finweek English Edition - - Letters - AT REYNEKE

IT’S PROBABLY true that South Africa is short of water. But I have believed the opposite for many years. Just look at the huge volumes of water that flowed into the sea during the past week. And it’s no exception. It happens very often.

The solution is to build more dams – many more – to collect water for times of scarcity. Not only do large dams affect the climate, they also feed subterranean sources. Government must stop wasting money on useless things and build dams. Not only will that conserve water but will also create badly needed jobs.
