The NMI group, a suc­cess­ful R2.8b turnover South African pri­vately owned per­for­mance driven re­gional group of com­pa­nies in­volved in the FMCG food in­dus­try, re­quires the ser­vices of an ex­pe­ri­enced Group Manag­ing Di­rec­tor. The suc­cess­ful in­cum­bent will re­port to the NMI board of direc­tors; will act as chair­man of the group’s sub­sidiary boards in Namibia, Botswana, Mozam­bique and Swazi­land; will be based in Brook­lyn, Pre­to­ria and be re­quired to travel fre­quently to the men­tioned coun­tries. RE­SPON­SI­BIL­I­TIES Pro­vide lead­er­ship and man­age­ment in ex­e­cut­ing the cor­po­rate strate­gies on be­half of the board in or­der to gen­er­ate share­holder value. Main­tain good cor­po­rate gov­er­nance by com­ply­ing with eth­i­cal busi­ness prac­tices in line with in­ter­na­tional trends. To lead growth, value ad­di­tion and trans­for­ma­tion in a low growth, low mar­gin in­dus­try to en­sure a sus­tain­able value adding branded food com­pany. Set and strive to ex­ceed com­pany tar­gets by manag­ing per­for­mance and key risk fac­tors. En­sure the re­cruit­ment, re­ten­tion and de­vel­op­ment of ef­fec­tive, mo­ti­vated and pas­sion­ate in­di­vid­u­als with spe­cific fo­cus on lo­cal re­sources and ef­fec­tive se­nior man­age­ment struc­tures in all the sub­sidiaries. EX­PE­RI­ENCE AND QUAL­I­FI­CA­TIONS At least 5 years MD ex­pe­ri­ence in a man­u­fac­tur­ing en­vi­ron­ment, prefer­ably in the Fast Mov­ing Con­sumer Goods In­dus­try. A rel­e­vant ter­tiary qual­i­fi­ca­tion is re­quired. Food pro­cess­ing ex­pe­ri­ence cou­pled with a strong back­ground in sales, dis­tri­bu­tion and key ac­count man­age­ment is pre­ferred. A milling back­ground would be an ad­van­tage. A sound track record of grow­ing busi­nesses is re­quired. SKILLS AND COM­PE­TEN­CIES An am­bi­tious leader with a prac­ti­cal man­age­ment style with knowl­edge of in­ter­na­tional trade rules and reg­u­la­tions, who is ca­pa­ble of de­vel­op­ing and im­ple­ment­ing suc­cess­ful growth strate­gies. Strong busi­ness and fi­nan­cial acu­men, cou­pled with en­trepreneur­ship, in­no­va­tion, deal-mak­ing, and ne­go­ti­at­ing abil­i­ties. Able to lobby in a com­plex po­lit­i­cal busi­ness en­vi­ron­ment.
