The NMI group, a successful R2.8b turnover South African privately owned performance driven regional group of companies involved in the FMCG food industry, requires the services of an experienced Group Managing Director. The successful incumbent will report to the NMI board of directors; will act as chairman of the group’s subsidiary boards in Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique and Swaziland; will be based in Brooklyn, Pretoria and be required to travel frequently to the mentioned countries. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide leadership and management in executing the corporate strategies on behalf of the board in order to generate shareholder value. Maintain good corporate governance by complying with ethical business practices in line with international trends. To lead growth, value addition and transformation in a low growth, low margin industry to ensure a sustainable value adding branded food company. Set and strive to exceed company targets by managing performance and key risk factors. Ensure the recruitment, retention and development of effective, motivated and passionate individuals with specific focus on local resources and effective senior management structures in all the subsidiaries. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS At least 5 years MD experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods Industry. A relevant tertiary qualification is required. Food processing experience coupled with a strong background in sales, distribution and key account management is preferred. A milling background would be an advantage. A sound track record of growing businesses is required.
