BBDO – hither op­er­at­ing in South Africa un­der two ver­sions of its global brand name: Net#work BBDO and BBDO Cape Town – will now adopt a sin­gle brand: Net#work BBDO. This fol­lows eight months of in­ter­nal re­struc­tur­ing to align the Cape Town of­fice with the global mantra of un­com­pro­mis­ing creative qual­ity. Chief creative of­fi­cer Mike Schalit be­lieves the time is now right to na­tion­alise BBDO in SA as the value sys­tems and creative cul­ture are in uni­son. His peers re­cently ranked Schalit as SA’s lead­ing creative di­rec­tor for an un­prece­dented 11 con­sec­u­tive years.

The Cape Town of­fice will be led by MD Eric D’Oliveira and ex­ec­u­tive creative di­rec­tor Ivan John­son and sup­ported by in­dus­try leaders Mike Schalit and Keith Ship­ley. John­son won two of the most pres­ti­gious global creative awards for SA last year: a Cannes Gold and a D&Ad Pen­cil.

“Net#work has been an in­dus­try leader for much of its 15 years, with a very strong creative her­itage,” he says. “I re­sisted the rebranding un­til we had proved we could match the Jo­han­nes­burg agency’s creative might and the mile­stone was reached last year.”
