BARELY A MONTH after an SA Airways crew was caught at London’s Heathrow Airport attempting to smuggle drugs into Britain, members of another SAA crew were nabbed following a failed bid to smuggle almost 5kg of cocaine valued at more than £245 000. Twelve of the 15-member crew have since been released from custody. THE CITIZEN said SAA’s management – including its CE, Khaya Nqgula – was responsible for the problems affecting SA’s national carrier. Nqgula has since been placed on special leave pending investigations into a comprehensive union dossier alleging, among other things, conflict of interest in the awarding of contracts.
