Highly needed

Finweek English Edition - - Letters - SIPHO MASIGO

YOUR RECENT “To my mind” column on “unity is strength” was powerful but I wonder how it will be achievable. We’ve seen how the world of politics has turned out if we talk unity – and yet we have opposition parties who continue to criticise the ANC or Government and they obviously have their mandate or wishes to govern, so how will we get the unity right?

All public reps get paid by Government and exercise their role in oversight committees to ensure officials meet their targets in terms of service delivery. My concern is how are we going to get all parties to also take the blame for poor service delivery, as they’re also part of Government?

I think leaders such as Mamphela Ramphele with such great initiatives to bring people together are highly needed. I do hope that it’s

not another talk shop.
