THE BRU­TAL KILLING of con­sumer psy­chol­o­gist Klaas Jonkheid de­prives the mar­ket­ing in­dus­try of an­other out­stand­ing pro­fes­sional.

Jonkheid (48) earned a doc­tor­ate in com­merce at the Uni­ver­sity of Jo­han­nes­burg and worked for Cad­bury’s and Nestlé be­fore join­ing ad agency Lind­say Smithers FCB (now Draft­fcb).

He was there for eight years, work­ing with Thomas Oosthuizen in strate­gic plan­ning. Sub­se­quently, they were part­ners in a strate­gic con­sul­tancy, iD8. At the time of his death, Jonkheid was run­ning his own busi­ness, Con­sult­ing Psy­chol­ogy Lab­o­ra­tory.

He was a lover of travel, hol­i­day­ing fre­quently in the Oka­vango Swamps, and was a keen Har­ley-David­son biker. He leaves a wife, Liesl.
