HUISGENOOT, the Me­dia24 group’s big-cir­cu­la­tion weekly mag­a­zine, was named Mag­a­zine of the Year at the Ad­van­tage Admag Awards last week. Other key win­ners were: Michelle van Breda, of

Sarie mag­a­zine (Edi­tor of the Year), Willem Breyten­bach (Pub­lisher of the Year), Sarie Kos (new­comer of the year),

Seven­teen (best in­ter­na­tional ti­tle pub­lished in SA) and Tony Koen­der­man (Life­time Achieve­ment).

In ad­di­tion, 17 mag­a­zines were awarded in cat­e­gories from busi­ness to youth cul­ture.


TBWA HUNT LAS­CARIS’S “Tril­lion dol­lar cam­paign” for The Zim­bab­wean news­pa­per just keeps on rolling along. At last week’s The One Show in New York it picked up four gold awards (two for de­sign, one for out­door and one for in­no­va­tion). That helped make Hunt Las­caris the top South African agency at the show this year. How­ever, loy­al­ists are quick to point out the agency would have been top even with­out its The Zim­bab­wean cam­paign – based on a points struc­ture hur­riedly cob­bled to­gether by SA’s Cre­ative Cir­cle.
