The US labour mar­ket par­tic­i­pa­tion rate fell to 64,1% in June this year – the low­est level since 1984. The labour mar­ket par­tic­i­pa­tion rate is the rate at which the work­ing age pop­u­la­tion who are ei­ther em­ployed or unem­ployed and look­ing for a job. The fall in the rate shows more peo­ple have sim­ply given up try­ing to find a job. But they still have to make ends meet.
