• Telkom announced last week that it would be phasing out the 8ta brand it spent millions on creating over the last couple of years, replacing it with the ‘ Telkom Mobile’ brand that it uses for corporate customers. • Apple no longer owns the rumour limelight ahead of new product announcements – Korea’s Samsung is ex- pected to announce its new Galaxy S4 smartphone soon, which has seen wild predictions in the press this week. Unsurprisingly, the new phone is expected to be lighter and faster, with a better camera. Not much of a rumour. • An ambitious project plans to send two people off to Mars in 2018. The duo won’t actually land on the red planet, but will rather slingshot around it and then head home, coming about as close to the surface as the International Space Station is to earth. The trip will also last 501 days and the two will share a compartment the size of a bathroom during this time. With no privacy. But it is possible, we’re told.
