While JSE-l i sted telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions group Te l k o m h a s b e e n plagued with in­ces­sant bad news that has weighed on its share price, a re­cent change in lan­guage from di­rec­tors may sig­nal that the com­pany is go­ing to start pri­ori­tis­ing share­hold­ers.

It was no­tice­able this week that many ex­pe­ri­enced mar­ket-watch­ers in­clud­ing David Shapiro from Sasfin and JP Ver­ster from 36One As­set Man­age­ment were mildly pos­i­tive about de­vel­op­ments at the group. Both ex­pressed com­ments that the Telkom board was able and ca­pa­ble of de­liv­er­ing value, pro­vided that Govern­ment did not in­ter­fere with the day-to-day op­er­a­tions of the group.
