GHOST SQUAD THUMBS UP

Finweek English Edition - - FEEDBACK - James Mentor

I enjoyed the article about the Ghost Squad ( Finweek, 22 August issue) and just wondered what the City [of Cape Town] and the national Department of Transport are doing about this very sickening (and dangerous) sport that is becoming a normal phenomenon in our society.

I maintain that legislation should be introduced whereby when a driver is caught driving recklessly and taking part in drag racing, their car should be confiscated by the State and the driver’s licence should be revoked immediately. The driver should be locked up immediately too.

In our local area of Grassy Park and surrounds we have seen many a miss and many serious accidents as a result of drag racing, including lives lost in the process.

It would be interesting to take this matter up with the respective authorities until the legislation is changed.
