Green­pop is a so­cial en­ter­prise that pro­motes the en­vi­ron­ment by mak­ing green­ing and sus­tain­able liv­ing cool through in­spir­ing the youth to plant trees. The ini­tia­tive stages green events and tree plant­ing projects but also uses vol­un­tourism to get young­sters liv­ing off-shore to visit Cape Town and green the city. The big idea be­hind Green­pop is to ed­u­cate peo­ple about green is­sues and to “ac­ti­vate” the youth to start tak­ing ac­tion about en­vi­ron­men­tal is­sues. The so­cial busi­ness is driv­ing to cre­ate green ru­ral and ur­ban ar­eas to help com­bat cli­mate change, while mak­ing green­ing pop­u­lar and fun so that a “greener, more con­scious move­ment is in­spired” by Green­pop.
