Moun­tain bik­ing is the new golf. And, as we saw with the golf frenzy, the de­mand for space soon out­stripped the sup­ply of cour­ses. As such, many of the pop­u­lar moun­tain bike races have be­come too crowded for great sin­gle­track routes, or tai­lor-made ac­com­mo­da­tion (i.e. hav­ing a choice of where you’d like to stay, and for how much you’d like to spend for those moun­tain bike races that take more than one day to com­plete). So

Fin­week got the low­down on the five upand-com­ing moun­tain bike races that are still far from the madding crowd – a must for those who’ve found them­selves bit­ten by the moun­tain bike bug. Note that the moun­tain bike races men­tioned here re­quire a team of no less than two peo­ple; th­ese are en­durance events so ad­e­quate train­ing is re­quired prior:
