AHI supports NDP

As a multisectoral business organisation consisting of 105 rural and suburban multilingual, multicultural chambers of commerce and about 100 corporate SMEs, the AHI is uniquely positioned to contribute to the realisation of the NDP’s objectives, especially at grassroots level.

Said Trevor Manuel, Minister in the Presidency responsible for the NDP, in his speech at the AHI’s national congress in 2012: “All we need now is initiative – people or organisations prepared to step up and be accountable for what they do. We accept that this will entail a degree of experimentation. Every aspect of the plan is promoted on a similar basis. That’s why the proactive alignment by the AHI is so attractive to us.”

Since then, the AHI has structured its strategic and operational plan in order to put this most important cornerstone of the NDP into practice. The object is to bring about economic growth through economic organisation at local level.
