Finweek English Edition - - INSIGHT - Impala Platinum mine

The resignation of Impala Platinum’s ( Implats’) operations director, Paul Dunne, was announced quietly by the platinum producer on Friday, 18 October, but the lead-up to the executive’s departure was far from amicable, Finweek can report.

A week prior to the announcement of Dunne’s resignation, after he had put in some 16 years at the company, rumours were swirling about a management rebellion at the platinum miner.

According to one source, employees had been called in by Implats CEO, Terence Goodlace, for a discussion on whether he (Goodlace) should continue at the company. This was set against speculation that management didn’t like his management style.
