So one lucky customer will win an airplane by spending as little as R25 in a promotion being r un by telecommunications giant MTN. Once you’ve won the Sling 4 valued at R1.7m though, you’ll have to cough up some more.

Finweek spoke to The Airplane Factory, the manufacturing company that builds these planes, about how much ownership of the four-seater Sling 4 will set you back. If you hadn’t noticed the fine print in the promotion’s Terms and Conditions disclaimer, there are a number of exclusions as part of the winning prize of the competition, but we highlight only a few in the table to the right.

If these figures appear rather blood- curdling, you can just cash out the R1.7m that the plane is worth, “subject to the regulations set out by regulatory bodies includ- ing the SA Revenue Services,” says Larry Annettes, MTN chief marketing officer.
