IS THERE SOMETHING ‘FISHY’ IN DOLPHINS CRICKET?

Finweek English Edition - - LIFESTYLE -

THE KWAZULU-NATAL Cricket Union (KZNCU) will not renew the contract of CEO Jesse Chellan when it expires in September.

It wasn’t too long ago that Chellan was praised for the work he was doing, and the Dolphins franchise seemed to be heading in the right direction.

The Dolphins won the RAM SLAM Twenty20 last season and the board said that under Chellan, the union was on an “upward revenue curve”.

What amazes me though is the number of current job titles of the KZNCU chairman Graham Abrahams. Abrahams is also president of Basketball SA, an executive board member of the SA Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS), in a full-time position as SuperSport’s director of Legal Affairs and Enterprise and a trustee of the Sports Trust.

Despite several emails to find out when Basketball SA had its last elections or AGM, the response is a deadly silence. In fact, the last response I got from Abrahams was: “Please do not send me emails.”
