Gauteng’s education MEC Panyaza Lesufi said that a task team will be constituted to probe allegations of racist practices at private schools across the province, following a public outcry after parents complained about racial segregation at Curro Foundation School in Roodeplaat, Pretoria. The school apologised but denied that the segregation was done on racial grounds, but based on language and cultural preferences − an excuse Lesufi described as “sugar-coating the problem”.
