and Exports and imports through the 12 ports totalled nearly 200m tons in the 2012 financial year, with coal representing nearly 63% of the throughput volume. Other products included metals and minerals, agricultural and petroleum products.
3The number of LNG terminals that are being constructed on Curtis Island, which is within the World Heritage site. A fourth terminal has been approved but construction is yet to start. The planned capacity for the four terminals could see a throughput of 54.5m tons of LNG a year, almost double the amount that is currently exported by Australia as a whole.
