and Ex­ports and im­ports through the 12 ports to­talled nearly 200m tons in the 2012 fi­nan­cial year, with coal rep­re­sent­ing nearly 63% of the through­put vol­ume. Other prod­ucts in­cluded met­als and min­er­als, agri­cul­tural and petroleum prod­ucts.

3The num­ber of LNG ter­mi­nals that are be­ing con­structed on Curtis Is­land, which is within the World Her­itage site. A fourth ter­mi­nal has been ap­proved but con­struc­tion is yet to start. The planned ca­pac­ity for the four ter­mi­nals could see a through­put of 54.5m tons of LNG a year, al­most dou­ble the amount that is cur­rently ex­ported by Australia as a whole.
