Gran­tham points out that it’s vi­tal when sell­ing a busi­ness to un­der­stand that there are many stages to closing. Ac­cept­ing an of­fer is only the first step of many lead­ing to a fi­nal pur­chase.

“And our gen­eral mes­sage is that the longer this takes, the higher the chance of it fall­ing over for var­i­ous rea­sons,” he says. “A huge part of this is trust. If you haven’t built up trust be­tween buyer and seller, the chance of the deal fail­ing is huge.”
