Grantham points out that it’s vital when selling a business to understand that there are many stages to closing. Accepting an offer is only the first step of many leading to a final purchase.
“And our general message is that the longer this takes, the higher the chance of it falling over for various reasons,” he says. “A huge part of this is trust. If you haven’t built up trust between buyer and seller, the chance of the deal failing is huge.”
