Finweek English Edition - - IN BRIEF -

The North Gauteng High Court dismissed an urgent application by Khulubuse Zuma, nephew of President Jacob Zuma, to set aside claims of more than R1.5bn against the directors and some managers of Aurora Empowerment Systems. The case will now be heard on 23 March. Khulubuse Zuma was a director of Aurora, which took over the running of Pamodzi’s Grootvlei and Orkney mines in 2009. Management left workers unpaid for months and allegedly oversaw wide-scale asset-stripping and illegal gold sales from the mines.
