Africa’s top luxury hotels
The Lost City and Sun City received the highest number of multimillionaire visitors on the continent in 2014, according to research by New World Wealth. Africa received just over 30 000 multimillionaire visitors − defined as individuals with net assets of at least $10m (R117.4m) − in the 12 months to June 2014, it said.
Major destinations for them within South Africa i nclude Cape Town, Johannesburg, Umhlanga, Franschhoek, Stell enbosch, t he Kruger National Park and the Garden Route. Popular destinations outside SA are Marrakech and Casablanca in Morocco, Cairo and Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, Nairobi and the Masai Mara in Kenya, Livingstone in Zambia and the Okavango Delta i n Botswana. Gorilla safaris in the Virunga Mountains in Uganda are also popular, New World Wealth said.
