The amount of money (R704.7bn) amassed by Ye­men’s for­mer pres­i­dent Ali Ab­dul­lah Saleh, through cor­rupt ac­tiv­i­ties dur­ing his rule from 1978-2012, ac­cord­ing to in­ves­ti­ga­tors ap­pointed by the United Na­tions (UN). This amount equals Ye­men’s an­nual GDP. The re­port by the UN in­ves­ti­ga­tors shows that most of the wealth had been trans­ferred un­der false names to 20 coun­tries, tak­ing the form of prop­erty, cash, shares, gold and valu­able com­modi­ties.
