Beatrice Yardolo, the last patient being treated for Ebola in Liberia, was discharged on 5 March. Yardolo (58), an English teacher, lost two sons and a daughter to the disease. Liberia will be considered Ebola-free on 4 April if no new cases are reported. More than 100 people are still being monitored for possible exposure to the virus. New cases continue to be reported in Sierra Leone and Guinea in the worst outbreak of the disease on record, which has led to more than 9 800 deaths so far.
