The to­tal amount paid in bonuses to Eskom’s 10 top of­fi­cials in 2014, ac­cord­ing to a re­ply to Par­lia­ment by public en­ter­prises min­is­ter Lynne Brown. This was in ad­di­tion to their salaries of nearly R32.7m. The size of a deal (R18.6bn) that the Malaysian gov­ern­ment signed with Canadian trans­port com­pany Bom­bardier for 20 planes as part of its plans to launch a new air­line, called fly­mojo. Malaysia has had three ma­jor air­line dis­as­ters since March last year – flight MH370 in March 2014 from Kuala Lumpur to Bei­jing is still miss­ing; flight MH17 from Am­s­ter­dam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down over Ukraine in July and flight 8501 from Surabaya to Sin­ga­pore crashed into the Java Sea in De­cem­ber. The re­ward (R62m) for in­for­ma­tion lead­ing to the re­cov­ery of 13 art­works that were stolen by two thieves dressed as po­lice of­fi­cers from a Bos­ton mu­seum 25 years ago. The mas­ter­pieces by artists in­clud­ing Ver­meer and Rem­brandt are es­ti­mated to be worth nearly $500m (R6.2bn).
