Finweek English Edition - - IN BRIEF -

The world has made significant progress in combating hunger, according to the United Nations’ annual hunger report, which estimates that about 795m, or one in nine, people currently go hungry. This is equal to about 12.9% of the population, and shows a massive improvement over the past 25 years, when more than 1bn people, or 23.3% of the population at the time, went hungry. East Asia, Southeast and Central Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean showed the most progress.
