First the now On 24 July, Bri­tish com­pany Pear­son an­nounced that it was selling its pink-paged busi­ness news­pa­per, to the Ja­panese media group Nikkei for $1.3bn (R16.3bn). A few days later it con­firmed that it was also look­ing at selling its 50% stake in weekly news­pa­per in or­der to fo­cus on its ed­u­ca­tion busi­ness, ac­cord­ing to Reuters. Pear­son is the world’s largest ed­u­ca­tion com­pany, with 40 000 em­ploy­ees in more than 70 coun­tries. It also owns a 47% stake in book pub­lisher Pen­guin Ran­dom House.
