Finweek English Edition - - IN BRIEF -

Ford will start assembling Ranger pick-up trucks in Nigeria from October, making it the first African country outside SA to assemble Ford vehicles. The move should not be seen as a threat to Ford’s Silverton operations in Pretoria, from where it will ship up to 5 000 Ranger kits to Lagos for assembly. The Ranger has been an incredible success story for Ford in SA, with the Silverton plant struggling to keep up with demand.
