Finweek English Edition - - IN BRIEF -

From Cape Town and Stellenbosch to Grahamstown and now KwaZulu-Natal, university campuses have been rocked by protests over a range of issues this year. While the violent measures deployed by students at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) cannot be condoned, we have to admit that the issues raised by students – a lack of transformation and institutionalised racism, unaffordable fees and largely non-functional National Student Financial Aid Scheme – are valid and need to be addressed.
