Snap­ping up niche brands

Fa­mous Brands* has an­nounced an­other very small ac­qui­si­tion. This time it bought a one-restau­rant Mex­i­can chain (with two more al­ready planned). This is on the back of other small sit-down diner brands the com­pany has been buy­ing over the past year or so. The plan is sim­ple: buy lots of good niche brands and ex­pect a few to re­ally take off. Even those restau­rants or chains that don’t be­come sig­nif­i­cant earn­ers can still give Fa­mous Brands a mean­ing­ful foot­print in the sit-down din­ing sec­tor, some­thing it cur­rently doesn’t have.
