Snapping up niche brands
Famous Brands* has announced another very small acquisition. This time it bought a one-restaurant Mexican chain (with two more already planned). This is on the back of other small sit-down diner brands the company has been buying over the past year or so. The plan is simple: buy lots of good niche brands and expect a few to really take off. Even those restaurants or chains that don’t become significant earners can still give Famous Brands a meaningful footprint in the sit-down dining sector, something it currently doesn’t have.
